Cheese Onion Soup Gratin Recipe
Onion Soup Gratinee is versions of basic french onion soup. Onion Soup Gratinee gets its taste from cheese and red wine. Onion Soup Gratinee is inspired by many restaurants around the world.
Ingredients
Basic onion soup
1/3 cup white or red port
1/2 cup diced Gruyere or Danish Samsoe cheese
6 slices buttered, dry toasted
French bread, sliced 1/2 inch thick
1 cup mixed shredded Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses
1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions
Make basic recipe of onion soup, omitting the wine.
Pour lukewarm or cold soup and the port into an ovenproof earthenware casserole, cover, and heat in a moderate oven (350°) for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with the diced Gruyere cheese.
Cover with an even layer of toasted French bread and sprinkle with the shredded cheeses.
Dribble over the melted butter.
Return to a hot oven (425°) for 10 minutes, then turn on the broiler and heat just until the cheese browns lightly on top.
