 Butter2 Tablespoon
 3 onions, cut into half slices
 2 French (dry) shallots, chopped
 Garlic1 Clove (5gm), finley sliced
 Water1 Cup (16 tbs)
 1/4 cup (60 ml) dry white wine (optional)
 Beef Stock1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Ground nutmeg1/4 Teaspoon
 Chives1/2 Teaspoon, chopped
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

–  In a stove-top casserole, melt butter and saute onions, shallots and garlic. Add water, wine and beef stock. Cover and bring to a boil. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Sprinkle with chives.
