Old-Fashioned Spice Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

 
2 cups sifted flour
 
1/2 teaspoon soda
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1 teaspoon cinnamon
 
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
 
1cup butter or other shortening
 
1 cup sugar
 
3 eggs
 
1cup sour milk
 
3 cups Post 40% Bran Flakes Or use 3 cups Post Toasties, Grape-Nuts Flakes, or Post Raisin Bran.

Directions

Sift flour once, measure, add soda, salt, and spices, and sift again.
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add flour alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in cereal.
Chill dough in refrigerator several hours or overnight (Dough will remain soft).
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
Bake in moderate oven (375°F.) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
