Old Time Tomato Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients
| Lemon | 1 | |
| Mayonnaise | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ground coriander | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper | ||
| 1 large round or oval loaf sourdough or other crusty bread | ||
| 3 large ripe tomatoes, thickly sliced | ||
Directions
From lemon, grate 1/2 teaspoon peel and squeeze 1 teaspoon juice.
In small bowl, stir lemon peel and juice, mayonnaise, coriander, salt, and pepper.
Cut eight 1/2 inch thick slices from center of bread loaf.
Reserve ends for use another day.
Toast bread if desired.
Spread 1 side of each bread slice with mayonnaise mixture.
Arrange tomato slices on 4 bread slices; top with remaining bread slices, mayonnaise side down.
Cut each sandwich in half to serve.
