Old Time Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
5 Tbsp. shortening
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
Directions
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda into bowl.
Add shortening and cut in with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Add buttermilk, all at once; stir until dough follows fork around bowl.
Turn out on lightly floured surface; knead 1/2 minute.
Pat out onto floured wax paper or other surface.
Cut out into 2-inch circles.
Bake on ungreased baking sheet in hot oven at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
