Old Fashioned Vanilla Custard Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 (9 inch) pie shell, unbaked | ||
| Eggs | 3 | |
| Granulated Sugar | 4 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| 3 cups scalding hot milk | ||
| Vanilla extract | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon, freshly grated | |
Directions
Beat eggs until thoroughly mixed and bubbly.
Add sugar and salt; mix well.
Add 3 tablespoons of the scalding hot milk to egg mixture; mix well.
Add egg mixture to the milk; stir in vanilla.
Beat gently until all is evenly mixed; pour into unbaked shell.
Bake 400 degrees for 12 minutes; reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 25 minutes or until tested done in middle.
Remove from oven; cool; refrigerate at least 2 hours before cutting.
