Old Fashioned Split Pea Soup Recipe
Ingredients
| Green peas | 1 pound | |
| Water | 2 1/2 Quart | |
| 1 meaty ham bone | ||
| Onion | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Garlic salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Marjoram | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Celery | 1 Cup (16 tbs), diced | |
| Carrots | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
Directions
Cover peas with water; soak overnight, or boil peas gently in water 2 minutes and soak 1 hour.
Drain.
Add 2 1/2 quarts water, ham bone, onion, and seasonings.
Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, simmer 2 hours.
Stir occasionally.
Remove bone; cut off meat.
Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients.
Cook slowly 45 minutes.
Salt to taste.
