Old Fashioned Rice Pudding Recipe
Old Fashioned Rice Pudding is an amazingly delicious mouth watering dessert recipe. Serve it at your dinner party; I bet you will have a huge fan following for this one!
Ingredients
| Milk | 1 Quart | |
| 1/4 cup raw long grain rice | ||
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 cup seeded raisins (optional) | ||
| Vanilla extract | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon, grated | |
Directions
1. Preheat oven to slow (300° F.).
2. Mix the milk, rice, sugar and salt in a six-cup buttered casserole and bake, uncovered, two hours, stirring the mixture every half hour.
3. If the raisins are not soft and fresh, let them stand in water to cover while the pudding bakes. Drain and add to the pudding. Add the vanilla and nutmeg and mix carefully.
4. Bake the pudding without stirring about one-half hour longer, or until the rice is very tender.
