Ingredients
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Pure Baking Soda
1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups molasses
1/2 cup shortening, melted
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/3 cup boiling water Sugar
Directions
In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt.
In large bowl, mix molasses, shortening, butter and water.
Add flour mixture to molasses mixture; blend well.
Cover; refrigerate until firm, about 2 hours.
Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick on well-floured surface.
Cut out with 3 1/2 inch cookie cutters; sprinkle with sugar.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in preheated 375°F oven about 12 minutes.
Remove to wire racks to cool.
