Old Fashioned Molasses Chews Recipe
Ingredients
| Salad oil | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/4 cup dark molasses | ||
| Sugar | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| All purpose flour | 2 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking soda | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 1 teaspoon each ground cinnamon and ginger | ||
| Ground cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Directions
In a large bowl, stir together oil, molasses, and 1 cup of the sugar.
Add eggs and beat until smooth.
In another bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves; gradually add to molasses mixture, beating until well combined.
Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until next day.
Place remaining 1/4 cup sugar in a small bowl.
Roll dough into 1 1/2 -inch balls, then roll in sugar to coat.
Place 3 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake in a 350° oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Transfer to racks and let cool completely.
Store airtight.
