Old Fashioned Bread And Egg Dressing Recipe
Ingredients
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup butter or drippings
5 cups stale bread cubes or crumbs
1 hard-cooked egg, chopped
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon mixed herbs (sage, thyme and marjoram)
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup giblet stock
Directions
1. Saute the onion and celery in the butter until the onion is transparent. Mix with the bread, hard-cooked egg and seasonings.
2. Blend the beaten egg with the stock and stir into the bread mixture.
3. Turn into a greased pan and place in the oven with the turkey about one hour before the turkey is done. Bake, uncovered, until the dressing is a deep golden brown. Cut into pieces to serve.
