Directions
In a small saucepan with a tight lid, heat raisins and water to boiling. Remove from heat; cool. Measure 1/3 cup of raisin liquid and reserve; drain raisins. Sift dry ingredients into large mixer bowl. Add fat. Beat on low speed until well blended. Add eggs and raisin liquid. Beat at medium speed 2 minutes or until light and smooth. Add oatmeal, raisins, dates, and nuts; mix well by hand. Drop by heaping teaspoons two inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes, or until delicately brown. Cool on cake rack. For a soft cookie, store in an air-tight container.
