Oatmeal Brown Bread Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup rolled oats
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons butter (or shortening)
2 cups boiling water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 envelope dry yeast
1/2 Cup mild molasses
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 cups all purpose flour
Directions
Combine rolled oats, salt and butter in a bowl - pour on boiling water and stir until butter melts.
Cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve the sugar in lukewarm water and sprinkle on yeast - let stand for 10 minutes.
Stir briskly and add to oatmeal mixture along with molasses.
Beat in the flours.
Turn, on floured board and work in another 2 to 3 cups flour as you knead for 10 minutes.
Butter hands and shape into ball, place in bowl, cover, and let rise till double - Approx.
1 1/2 hours.
Punch down and shape into 3 loaves.
Crease tops and let rise till double.
Bake at 375° for 60 minutes.
