Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
6 tablespoons half and half cream
3 tablespoons orange juice
Grated rind of 1 orange
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Cream butter with sugar in bowl.
Combine cream, orange juice, and rind; blend well.
Sift flour with nutmeg and salt; add to butter mixture alternately with orange-juice mixture.
Add more flour, if needed, to form stiff dough.
Shape into roll; wrap in waxed paper.
Chill overnight.
Slice dough 1/8 inch thick; cut small hole with piping tube or thimble in one side of each cookie.
Place on greased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated 375 °F oven 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
