Nut Refrigerator Cake Recipe

Ingredients
30 macaroons
18 ladyfingers
11/3 cups icing sugar
1 cup butter
3 eggs
3 eggs, separated
1/2 pound blanched almonds, or pecans, cut in half
1 teaspoon vanilla
Salt
1/2 pint whipping cream
Nuts or cherries for garnish
Directions
Line bottom and sides of a dish, first with waxed paper, then with ladyfingers, and then with a layer of macaroons.
Cream butter and icing sugar, add 3 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add three well-beaten egg yolks with vanilla, salt and nuts.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour half the mixture over macaroons, add another layer of macaroons, then the remaining half of the mixture.
Refrigerate for 30 hours.
Cover with whipped cream and nuts or cherries.
