Directions

1. Start oven, set at Moderate, 350° F. Rub a pan 7 by 11 inches with shortening or margarine.
2. Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together; stir in the nuts.
3. Cream the shortening or margarine and the sugar. Add the vanilla, orange peel and egg and beat well. Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk and mix thoroughly.
4. Spread the mixture thinly in the baking pan. Bake 18 to 20 minutes. While still warm, cut in squares or strips.
