Norwegian Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/3 cup chopped onion
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 lb. lean ground pork
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups liquid (light cream and water)
Directions
Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large heavy skillet; add onion and cook until transparent.
Toss together lightly the ground meats, cooked onion, bread crumbs, milk and a blend of egg, 2 teaspoons sugar, 1 1/4 teaspoons salt, monosodium glutamate, nutmeg, and allspice.
Lightly shape into 1-inch balls.
Heat remaining butter in the skillet; add meat balls and brown evenly.
Remove and keep warm.
Blend flour, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pepper into the fat in skillet; heat until bubbly.
Gradually add liquid, stirring constantly; bring to boiling.
Cook 1 to 2 minutes.
Pour over meat.
