North Jersey Texas Wiener Sauce Recipe Video
I'm a big fan of regional hot dog styles, I found this recipe in my latest edition of Cook's Country magazine and it sounded interesting.
Ingredients
| Vegetable oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Lean ground beef | 1 Pound (85% Lean) | |
| Onion | 1 Medium, chopped finely | |
| Tomato paste | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Franks red hot sauce | 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs) | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Yellow mustard sauce | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Worcestershire sauce | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Black pepper powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Chilli sauce | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
| Chilli powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Brown sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| All spice powder | 1 1⁄4 Teaspoon |
Directions
MAKING:
1)In a skillet heat oil and brown the onions and ground beef. Add the tomato paste and chili powder, brown sugar and all the dry spices and stir, cook for 2 minutes.
2)Add chili sauce and water to this mixture and bring it up to a boil for 10 minutes.
3)In a food processor spoon half the mixture and grind till smooth.
4)To the ground mixture add hot sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and grind again.
5)Transfer to the skillet now the remaining sauce with the ground beef sauce and simmer gently.
SERVING:
6)Best served with steaming hot dog buns and franks.
