Ingredients

 2 medium onions, cut into quarters
 Butter/Margarine3 Tablespoon
 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into several pieces
 1 10 1/2 ounce can clams, broth reserved
 1 cup boiling water and reserved clambroth,
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Pepper1/8 Teaspoon
 Flour1 Tablespoon
 Cold water2 Tablespoon
 Whole milk1 Pint

Directions

Chop onions finely with the metal blade and saute in butter in a large skillet until soft.
Chop potatoes very coarsely with the metal blade and add to the onions in the skillet.
Add the boiling water and broth and salt and pepper.
Simmer for 30 minutes.
Add more hot water if necessary.
Combine flour and cold water and stir until smooth.
Add to potato-clam mixture and heat until thickened.
Add milk and heat through.
Serve at once with chowder crackers.

Where's the salt pork that should be fried along with the onions. Not butter, use salt port--- adds more flavor. All the New England recipes uses the above. - that's where I'm from -- ;you'd be amazed at the difference in taste.
