New Starlight Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 cups Gold Medal Flour | ||
| Sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 3 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 cup soft shortening | ||
| Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 3 | |
Directions
Heat oven to 350° (mod.).
Grease and flour 2 round layer pans, 8 or 9x1 1/2", or an oblong pan, 13x9 1/2x2".
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Stir flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in bowl.
Add shortening, milk, and vanilla.
Beat 2 min. at medium speed on mixer or 300 vigorous strokes by hand.
Scrape sides and bottom of bowl constantly.
Add eggs.
Beat 2 more min., scraping bowl frequently.
Pour into prepared pans.
Bake layers 30 to 35 min., oblong 40 to 45 min.
Do not underbake! Cake is done when toothpick stuck into center comes out clean.
Frost as desired.
