Butter Napoleon Recipe

Ingredients

 
Readymade Puff Pastry dough- ½ pound
 
Sugar-2/3 cup
 
All-purpose flour-5 tablespoons
 
Salt-1/4 teaspoon
 
Milk-2 cups
 
Eggs-2, slightly beaten
 
Vanilla-1 teaspoon
 
Butter-3/4 cup
 
Confectioners' sugar-1 cup, sifted
 
Cold milk-1 tablespoon
 
Unsweetened chocolate- as needed, melted

Directions

MAKING
1)Roll Puff pastry into an oblong piece about 16 inches wide and 1/4 inch thick.
2)Cut lengthwise into 2 sections about 8 inches wide. Cut in half crosswise.
3)Take a baking sheet lined with brown paper and put the pastry on it.
4)Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool.
5)On top boiler, add sugar, flour and salt.
6)Then, slowly add milk and stir to make a smooth mixture.
7)Cook mixture on boiling water until thickened. Keep stirring.
8)Then, cover and cook for 10 minutes.
9)Add some of this mixture into the slightly beaten eggs and stir.
10)Mix egg mixture with hot mixture and stir rapidly.
11)Cook over hot but water for 2 minutes. Keep stirring.
12)Cool and add vanilla. Chill.
13)In a bowl, beat and add it into chilled cream filling. Chill.
14)Spread filling on 2 of the sections.
15)Cut other 2 sections into 2-inch-wide strips.
16)Put them on filling and cut through filling and bottom section of pastry.
17)Take a bowl, and mix confectioners' sugar and milk, stirring until smooth.
18)Spread on top of pastry layers.
19)Swirl chocolate on top of frosting.

SERVING
20)Serve the Napoleons as a snack or dessert.
