Classic Naan Recipe
Naan has a fine taste. Naan gets its taste from yeast mixed with flour and milk. Naan is inspired by many food joints worldwide.
Ingredients
15g fresh yeast
1/4 tspn sugar
2 tblspn warm water
450g self raising flour
1 tspn salt
150ml tepid milk
150ml natural yogurt
2 tblspn melted butter or cooking oil
FOR THE GARNISH
2-3 tblspn melted butter
1 tblspn poppy or sesame seeds
Directions
Mix the yeast with the sugar and water and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes.
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl, make a well in the centre and pour in the yeast liquid, milk, yogurt and butter or oil.
Mix to a smooth dough and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a bowl, cover and leave to rise in a warm place for 1-1 1/2 hours.
Knead on a floured surface, then divide into 6 pieces.
Pat or roll each piece into an oval.
Place on warmed baking trays and bake for 10 minutes.
Brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with the poppy or sesame seeds.
