Ingredients

 1 1/2 lbs. flank steak or round steak, cut 1/2-inch thick
 Butter/Margarine1 Teaspoon
 Onion1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
 Sliced mushrooms1 Cup (16 tbs), canned
 2 tablespoons chopped parsley or 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
 Salt1/2 Teaspoon
 Pepper1/4 Teaspoon
 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning or ground thyme, if desired
 1 cup water or 1/3 cup red wine and 2/3 cup water

Directions

Cut steak into 6 pieces or leave whole.
Brown in butter in hot fry pan.
After browned on one side, turn; top with onions and mushrooms.
Sprinkle with parsley, salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.
Pour water over all.
Lower heat; cover and simmer for I 1/2 to 2 hours until tender.
If desired, garnish with additional parsley before serving.
