Ingredients

 
Ghee- as necessary
 
Onion-1 tablespoon, chopped
 
Mustard seeds -1 teaspoon
 
Dash of asafoetida powder
 
Salt-1/2 teaspoon
 
Red chili powder-1/2 teaspoon
 
Garam masala-1/2 teaspoon
 
Amchoor-1 teaspoon
 
Green ginger-1/2 teaspoon, grated
 
Moong dal-1/2 cup, skinless, pre-soaked
 
Green coriander -1 tablespoon, chopped
 
Semicircles of pastry -12
 
Milk -to bind

Directions

GETTING READY
1)In a wok, heat ghee to smoking point.
MAKING
2)In a wok, heat 1 tablespoon ghee on low heat, and fry onion, mustard and asafoetida for 1 minute.
3)Add next 5 items and mix nicely. Now add the dal, cover and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes until dal is tender.
4)Turn off heat and sprinkle coriander and keep aside.
5)Take the pastry semicircles and brush borders with milk and fold into a triangle.
6)Fill the stuffing and seal edges. Repeat the process for remaining pastries.
7)Deep fry the samosas until golden and then drain excess oil.

SERVING
8)Serve hot or cold, with a chutney of your choice.
