Monte Cristo Sandwiches Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter margarine | 4 Tablespoon, softened | |
| 3 slices firm-textured white bread | ||
| Turkey chicken slice | 2 | |
| 2 slices Monterey Jack, Swiss, or Cheddar cheese | ||
| 1 egg, lightly beaten | ||
| Milk | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Butter bread, 2 slices on 1 side only, 1 slice on both sides.
Lay chicken on a buttered slice, top with doubly buttered slice, cheese, and last slice, buttered side down.
Press together lightly; if you like, trim off crusts.
Mix egg, milk, and salt, dip in sandwich, coating edges as well as sides.
Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a skillet or griddle and brown sandwich over moderately low heat about 2 minutes on each side.
