Monte Cristo Au Gratin Recipe
Ingredients
| Bread slice | 6 | |
| 12 slices of turkey or ham or 6 slices each | ||
| 3 eggs, lightly beaten with 2 tablespoons water | ||
| Vegetable oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 1 1/2 cups grated processed Swiss cheese | ||
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Mayonnaise | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Nutmeg | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Place meat between 2 slices of bread.
Dip sandwiches in egg mixture.
In a frying pan, heat oil and butter; fry both sides of sandwiches until golden brown.
Place in a baking dish.
In a saucepan, combine cheese, milk, mayonnaise and nutmeg.
Heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts and mixture is smooth.
Pour over sandwiches and broil 3 to 5 minutes, 6 inches from broiler, until bubbly.
Makes 3 servings.
