Mom's Coffee Bars Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup raisins
3/4 cup hot strong coffee
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons butter,softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon (about) milk
Directions
Plump the raisins in a mixture of coffee and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Cream the shortening and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs and a mixture of the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
Add raisin mixture and sugar-shortening to the egg mixture.
Spread in a thin layer in a nonstick 10x15 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Beat the confectioners' sugar, butter and vanilla with enough milk to make a thin icing.
Glaze the warm baked layer with the icing.
Cool and cut into bars.
