Cream butter or margarine until fluffy, and add sugar gradually, continuing to cream.
Add egg, and beat well.
Stir in molasses.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, a little at a time, incorporating thoroughly after each addition.
Place bowl of batter in refrigerator 1Ã¢â‚¬â€2 hours to firm dough.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased sheets.
Bake in 375Ã‚Â°F. oven 8Ã¢â‚¬â€10 minutes.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
