Directions

1. Mix the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices together.
2. Cream the butter, brown sugar, egg, and molasses until fluffy. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. Chill until firm enough to handle.
3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls.
5. Dip in granulated sugar and put 3 inches apart on lightly oiled cookie sheets. Sprinkle each cookie with 2 or 3 drops of water (this causes the crinkling).
6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
