Mock Pepper Steak Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/2 lb (750 g) ground beef
1 egg
2 tbsp (30 ml) breadcrumbs
1 tbsp (15 ml) chopped parsley
1/2 tsp (2 ml) Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 lb (500 g) mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp (30 ml) green peppercorns
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) beef stock heated
1 tbsp (15 ml) cornstarch
3 tbsp (45 ml) cold water

Directions
Mix meat, egg, breadcrumbs, parsley and Worcestershire sauce in mixer for 2 minutes at high speed; season to taste.
Shape into steaks.
Heat oil in large frying pan.
Cook steaks 8 to 10 minutes over medium heat turning over 4 times.
When cooked, remove and keep hot in oven.
Add onion to frying pan and cook 2 minutes.
Add mushrooms and peppercorns, season and continue cooking 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat.
Pour in beef stock, mix and bring to boil.
Mix cornstarch with water and stir into sauce.
Cook 2 minutes more to thicken.
Shape into steaks.
