Mock Mince Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Crisco pastry - equivalent for 2-crust pie | ||
| Sugar | 1 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cloves | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Ginger | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Apples | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), pared | |
| Dark raisins | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cranberry sauce | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), jellied | |
| Walnuts | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Orange peel | 1 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Lemon peel | 1/2 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Lemon juice | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter -1 tablespoon or margarine - 1 tablespoon | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 400° Fahrenheit.
2. Line a 9 inch pie plate with pastry.
3. In a medium bowl, mix together sugar, salt, and spices.
4. Stir in apple, raisins, cranberry sauce, nuts, orange and lemon peel, and lemon juice.
MAKING
5. Into the prepared pie plate, pour filling and dot with butter.
6. Cover filling with top crust; seal and flute.
7. Using a knife, make several slits on top crust for steam to escape.
8. Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
SERVING
9. Top Mock Mince Pie with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.
10. Slice and serve warm.
