I'm dying to try this! If you weren't using a microwave, but a traditional toaster-oven, how long would each of the 2 baking periods be for the mochi mix, and at what temperature?

Hi Karpani, you can not cook the mochi dough in the oven. If you do not have a microwave, you can use a steamer to cook the mochi dough. Make the batter in a non-stick bowl. Place it in the steamer after covering it with a cheesecloth or muslin cloth. Cover with steamer lid and steam it for about 15 minutes. Remove and let the dough cool completely before using it.

So unhappy the ingredients and explanation for mochi, sweet rice cakes, are not actually written in English. I am not clearly understanding the viedo, so written and a print-able recipe would be very helpful. I would truly enjoy making mochi for my family and am disapointed not to be able to use this site's information, it seems very useful, if I already knew the list of ingredients. Mary Hazel

Thanks for the instruction. We've been puzzling how to create a dough with the texture we'd sampled at our food market. You've solved the mystery.
