Mixed Root Vegetables In Onion Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
| 200 g / 8 oz. large carrots | ||
| Parsnip | 1 | |
| Turnip | 1 | |
| Onion sauce | ||
| Onion | 1 Large, chopped | |
| 25 g / 1 oz. butter | ||
| 25 g / 1 oz. flour | ||
| 250 ml / 1/2 pint milk | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
MAKING
1) Cut carrots, parsnip and turnip into 1.25 cm (1/2 in.) dice.
2) Blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain out water.
3) Prepare sauce, fry onion in melted butter.
4) Add flour and cook for a minute.
5) Stir in milk.
6) Simmer and boil the content till sauce thickens.
7) Add root vegetables and seasoning.
SERVING
8) Serve immediately.
TIPS
Freeze in a tight container. Reheat with 1 tablespoon water in saucepan stirring frequently.
