Recipe Story

I taste the Mishti doi first time when I went to Calcutta(West Bengal / India).to see my In-laws. I never taste before this typa of dessert.

Ingredients

 Milk1 Liter
 (2)- Sugar 10-12 Tbsp ( For sweetner)
 (3)- Few threads of safforn.
 (4)- Yellow food color
 (5)- Yougurt 1 tsp. (As a settler of curd)

Directions

Boil milk in a pan on medium flame till it becomes half quantity.
Add sugar, Safforn, food colour in keep it on fleme 1-2 min, and stir spoon continuously.
Remove the milk from heat and keep it till becomes room temprature.
Now add 1 tps of yougurt in this milk , pour milk in a clay pot cover with lid and keep a side to settle the sweet curd.
After 8-10 hours it will be settle.
Donn't shake the pot during this period,oterwise curd will not settle
.Serve it chilled.

if i am not wrong the sugar used in mishti doi has to be caramalised....

Yes, that is what gives that light brownish colour. I don't think traditionally any food colouring is added as mentioned.
