Sift flour, 2 tbsp sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg together into a bowl.
Add 1/4 cup butter and cut in finely.
Beat egg and milk together with a fork.
Add to first mixture and stir lightly with a fork just until blended.
Round up on lightly-floured board and knead gently 6 times.
Roll out 1/2 inch thick.
Cut with very small cookie cutter (about 1 inch in diameter) and put on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake about 7 minutes or until lightly browned.
Dip about half the biscuits in the melted butter then roll in a mixture of 1/3 cup sugar and mace.
Leave remaining biscuits plain.
Serve very hot.
Note: If you prefer biscuits that aren't sweet, omit sugar and nutmeg from dough and omit step of rolling in butter and sugar.
