Mincemeat Bars Recipe
This Mincemeat Bars is a great way for snacking mid-way between meals. It's so simple to make this Mincemeat Bars and needless to say, it even tastes awesome!
Ingredients
7 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 teaspoon rum extract
1 1/4 cups sifted enriched flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup instant or regular whole wheat cereal
1 cup drained prepared mincemeat
Directions
Heat oven to moderate (350° F.).
Butter an 8-inch square pan.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add extract.
Sift together flour, salt and soda.
Stir in cereal.
Add to creamed mixture.
Mix well to form crumbs.
Pack 1/2 of crumb mixture in bottom of pan.
Spread with mincemeat.
Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over top.
Pat lightly.
Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cut into 12 bars.
Remove from pan.
Heat bars before serving.
Serve with hard sauce or ice cream.
