Classic Mincemeat Recipe
Ingredients
| Beef | 1 Cup (16 tbs), coarsely chopped | |
| 1/4 cup chopped suet | ||
| Raisins | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Currants | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 cup cut citron | ||
| Apples | 2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| 1 cup cider or apple juice | ||
| Juice and grated rind from 1 lemon | ||
| Brown sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs), firmly packed | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Allspice | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Brandy | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Put all ingredients except brandy in saucepan.
Cook slowly altogether for one hour and 15 minutes.
Stir in brandy.
Makes 3 cups.
