Mince Pies Recipe

Ingredients
90g butter
1/4 cup castor sugar
1 egg
11/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Beaten egg to glaze
1 cup Fruit Mincemeat
Sifted icing sugar
Directions
Cream butter with sugar.
Add egg and beat well.
Sift flour and baking powder and stir into creamed mixture.
Knead lightly on floured board.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
Roll out thin and cut into rounds to fit lightly greased patty tins.
Cut same number of smaller circles to fit tops of pies.
Moisten edges with beaten egg and put 1 heaped teaspoon Fruit Mincemeat into each.
Make a small slit in each pastry lid or cut with a small star cutter.
Top each filled pie with lid and press edges of pastry well to seal.
Glaze with beaten egg.
Bake in a preheated moderate oven 180C (350F) for 20-30 minutes or until pale golden-brown.
Remove from oven and dust with icing sugar.
Makes about 12 individual pies or 24 petits-fours size.
