Ingredients
2 c. sugar
3 T. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. half-and-half (you can even use milk)
1 T. white corn syrup
3 T. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. nuts (opt.)
Directions
In a large bowl that you can cover with a plate, mix sugar, cocoa and salt.
Stir until the cocoa is well distributed.
Add milk, corn syrup and butter.
Put plate over the top and microwave for 5 minutes, covered.
Mix well.
Cook another 8-14 minutes on high.
If you use cream or half-and-half, cook it less time; milk takes more time.
Each microwave is different, so try a batch.
When the candy has cooked enough, it should be slightly thick.
Pour the candy out onto a buttered platter.
Let it cool for a few minutes.
Start beating the candy with a wooden spoon.
Continue beating until candy loses its shiny appearance.
Pour into a buttered 8 x 8-inch pan.
Cut into small squares.
It should now have a creamy texture.
