Miami Beach Birthday Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 Cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Morsels | ||
| Graham cracker crumbs | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Butter | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), melted | |
| Walnuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Butter | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 1/2 Cups + 2 Tbs. Sugar | ||
| Eggs | 2 | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 1/4 Cups Buttermilk or Sour Milk | ||
| Heavy cream | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Melt 1/3 cup chocolate morsels.
Grease and flour bottoms of two 9" layer pans.
Combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter.
Stir in walnuts and 2/3 cup morsels.
Set aside.
Combine flour with soda and salt.
Cream butter.
Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar.
Cream well.
Add eggs, one at a time.
Beat well.
Blend in melted morsels and vanilla.
At low speed add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
Turn into pans.
Sprinkle with crumb mixture.
Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
Cool.
Beat cream with 2 tbs sugar until stiff.
Fill and frost sides, keeping layers top-side up.
Refrigerate.
