Ingredients

 
3/4 pound pork, ground
 
3/4 pound veal, ground
 
1 onion, chopped
 
1/4 cup oil
 
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
 
1/4 cup raisins
 
1/4 cup blanched silvered almonds
 
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
 
2 tablespoons chili powder
 
2 tablespoons diced candied lemon peel
 
2 bananas, sliced
 
1/4 cup chopped stuffed or pitted ripe olives
 
1 stick cinnamon
 
2 whole cloves
 
1 tablespoon sugar
 
1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
 
1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste)

Directions

Brown meats and onion in oil in skillet, breaking up with a fork; add tomato sauce.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer; add remaining ingredients.
Simmer for 20 minutes longer, or until mixture is thickened.
Remove whole spices.
