Meringue Spice Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| Shortening | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brown sugar | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg yolks | 2 , beaten | |
| Flour | 2 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sour milk | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cloves | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon |
Directions
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add egg yolks and beat until fluffy.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternating with milk and vanilla.
Beat vigorously after each addition.
Pour into greased 9" x 13" pan.
Cover with brown sugar meringue.
Bake at 325 degrees about 50 minutes.
