Meringue Pie Shell Recipe
A good Meringue Pie Shell recipe is rare to find, you are lucky to have hit the right page. Best enjoyed as a Dessert this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. Am I hearing a thank you from you for sharing this Meringue Pie Shell recipe?
Ingredients
4 egg whites at room temperature
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions
1. Beat egg whites until stiff, with salt and cream of tartar.
2. Gradually beat in sugar, a little at a time, and continue beating until the meringue is very stiff and shiny.
3. Spread the meringue over the bottom of a well greased pie plate, about 1/4 of an inch thick.
4. Spread the sides about 1" thick and as high as they will stay.
5. Bake at 275° for 1 hour. Cool.
6. When cold, cover bottom with ice cream or whipped cream.
7. Spread with lightly sugared raspberries or peaches.
