Directions

Combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a small bowl.
Stir in butter, blending well.
Press mixture into an ungreased 13-x 9- x 2-inch baking pan.
Sprinkle with chocolate morsels and pecans.
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) at high speed of an electric mixer until foamy.
Gradually add 1 cup brown sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
Spread meringue over chocolate and pecans.
Bake at 375° for 18 to 20 minutes.
Cool and cut into 3- x 1-inch bars.
