 8-10 raw potatoes

 Heavy cream3/4 Cup (16 tbs) (For the Potato Bed:)
 Bacon1/2 pound (For Larding:)
 Grated Cheddar cheese
 Tomatoes6 (For Baking:)
 Basil
 Salt To Taste
 Pepper To Taste

Directions

1. Peel the potatoes and cut them in slices. Layer them in a greased pan or ovenproof dish with salt, pepper, and garlic salt between the layers.
2. Pour on the cream.
3. Work the ground beef with seasonings, parsley, egg and yolk, cream, and water.
4. Shape into 2 loaves and place them on the potato bed. Brush with vegetable oil and bake in a 325°F oven for 45 minutes.
5. Make gashes in the loaves and lard with a piece of bacon in each gash. Sprinkle with cheese. Place 3 tomatoes on each short side, cut a cross in their tops and dredge with salt, pepper, and basil. Replace the dish in the oven for about 15 minutes.
