Meatballs Supreme Recipe
Ingredients
| Lean ground beef | 1 pound | |
| Egg | 1 , beaten | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Allspice | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 slice stale bread | ||
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Onion | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Butter | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Onion | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Tomato Paste | 1 Tablespoon | |
| 1 cup undiluted consomme | ||
| Mushrooms | 1/2 pound, canned | |
| Sour cream | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Mix first 6 ingredients together.
Break up and soak the bread in the milk and add to meat mixture.
Add 1/2 cup chopped onion; mix well.
Form into small meatballs.
Cook slowly in a lightly greased frying pan about 30 minutes until lightly browned and well cooked.
Drain.
Melt butter in saucepan.
Add 3/4 cup chopped onion and brown.
Remove from heat.
Stir in flour, tomato paste and consomme.
Return to heat, stirring until thick.
Add the mushrooms and simmer for 5 minutes; add sour cream and salt.
Pour over meatballs.
