Ingredients

 
1 cup (two sticks) butter
 
8 ounces cream cheese
 
1/4 cup heavy cream
 
2 1/2 cups flour
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
Piroshki Filling
 
1 egg
 
1 teaspoon water

Directions

Cream butter and cheese and beat in cream.
Blend in flour and salt.
Chill well.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Roll out dough between wax paper to one-eighth-inch thickness.
Cut into two inch to three inch rounds or squares.
Place one teaspoon filling on one side of each round.
Combine egg and water.
Moisten edges of dough with mixture.
Fold dough over filling, forming crescents or triangles.
Seal and decorate edges.
Put on a baking sheet.
Brush with remaining egg mixture.
Slash a small hole in the middle of each to allow steam to escape.
Bake until golden, fifteen to twenty minutes.
