Ingredients

 1 1/2 pounds beef or lamb, cubed
 Yogurt1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Onion1 Medium, quartered
 4 slivers garlic
 Ginger1 4 Inch
 Paprika1/2 Teaspoon
 1 dry red or green pepper to taste
 Turmeric3/4 Teaspoon
 Coriander seeds1 Tablespoon
 Poppy seeds2 Tablespoon
 Cumin seeds1 Tablespoon
 Chili powder to taste
 Cloves6
 Cinnamon stick1 2 inch
 Coconut1 4 Inch
 Salt To Taste
 Vegetable shortening1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Onion1 Large, thinly sliced
 16 almonds, blanched and sliced
 Saffron1/2 Teaspoon
 Milk1/4 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

Combine meat and yogurt in skillet.
Cover.
Simmer until half cooked approximately 1/2 hour.
Place quartered onion, garlic, ginger, paprika, pepper, turmeric, coriander, poppy seeds, cumin, chili powder, cloves, cinnamon, coconut and salt in food chopper using fine blade or in high speed blender.
Grind to a paste.
Heat shortening in huge skillet.
Add sliced onion and spice paste.
Fry for 15 minutes, until onions are browned.
Stir constantly.
Add meat and fry lightly until meat is browned.
Add almonds.
Simmer meat until tender approximately 1/2 hour.
Crush saffron in milk.
Add to meat.
Cook 5 minutes more.
