Mean Bean Chili Recipe
Ingredients
| Chopped - 2 large onions, (about 3 cups) | ||
| Garlic | 6 Clove (5gm) | |
| Olive oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Chili powder | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Dried oregano | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Dried basil | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground cumin | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cayenne | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Beans (kidney, pinto, etc.) - 5 fifteen-ounce cans, rinsed and drained | ||
| Low-sodium tomatoes - 28-ounce can, chopped, juice reserved | ||
| 26-ounce jar of your favorite purchased spaghetti sauce | ||
| Hot sauce - 6 dashes, or to taste | ||
| Water | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lean ground raw turkey - 1 1/2 pounds | ||
| Liquid smoke | 1 Tablespoon (OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:) | |
Directions
MAKING
1) In a large nonstick kettle heat oil, cook onion and garlic over moderate low heat for 5 minutes till onion is softened.
2) Stir in chili powder, oregano, basil, cumin, and cayenne, and cook for 3 minutes.
3) Add beans, tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, hot sauce, and enough water to cover the beans.
4) Boil the mixture and simmer stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes.
SERVING
5) Serve hot.
