Marzetti Recipe

Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 can (3 ounces) chopped mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt (optional)
1 pound ground beef
3 cups cooked noodles
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions
1. Put butter, onion, green pepper and mushrooms into a 2-quart glass casserole. Cook uncovered in microwave oven 6 minutes at High, or until onion is soft; stir after 1 minute. Add salt, pepper and garlic salt; mix well.
2. Put meat into a 1 1/2-quart glass baking dish. Cover with waxed paper. Cook in microwave oven 5 minutes at High, or until meat is no longer pink; stir and break meat apart with a wooden spoon once. Drain off fat from meat. Stir in vegetable mixture.
3. Alternate layers of noodles, meat mixture and tomato sauce in the glass casserole. Top with bread crumbs and cheese. Cover with an all-glass lid or plastic wrap.
4. Heat in microwave oven to serving temperature (about 7 minutes at High); rotate casserole one-half turn once. Let stand covered
5 minutes.
